One of the great things about the Cincinnati music scene is the variety of options we have to enjoy it. From the big stage of the National to the cozy bars and cafes around town, there’s no shortage of options. We’re still recovering from CMW 2010, so we were pleased to see the addition of another great music festival this year, Cincinnati Music Week.
CMW continues to grow and improve on the momentum they’ve built the last two years, presenting an even bigger and better festival. To help you plan your trip to CMW, we’ve put together a more detailed post.
Cincinnati Music Week: What to Expect
Cincinnati Music Week is a week long celebration of local music. If you were to see one artist, it would be the National. Each year since the first CMW, they’ve brought in the biggest names in the industry, and this year’s lineup is no exception. The National will headline the festival in the main tent on Friday night, and they’ll be joined by dozens of other bands that span a variety of genres, including hip hop, pop, rock, alternative, and more.
Cincinnati Music Week is an extremely diverse festival. While the main stage is geared towards the casual, mainstream crowd, a slew of other venues exist around town that cater to different types of music. If you like indie rock, check out Mote Park in Northside. If you like hip hop, check out Downtown’s 18th and Vine. If you prefer a dancey, old school R&B song, check out the iconic Moerlein Lager House. There’s no shortage of options, and it’s a great way to connect with the scene in your own city.
CMW is also a fantastic time to meet new people in the music scene. Those who attend for CMW 2010 helped us connect to new venues and artists, and we look forward to doing the same this year.
